Goodreads and the Association of American Publishers is having a contest for non sponsored blogs to win all-expenses-paid trips to BEA this year!

Do you know what this means for me? A heart attack from excitement, that’s what! I never got to go to BEA last year, which was the first year I’d ever heard about it (thank you, blogosphere!). And, as it stands, I won’t be able to make it this year, either. Finances really are a pain in my butt.

But I’d LOVE to go. Capital L-O-V-E. It’s not just about the swag or books. It’s my future. If I’m going to make it in the publishing world, I want to know what it’s like. I want to speak with authors and their crews. Really, I think of my going to BEA as one big field trip, or compressed internship. Attending the conference would benefit me in so many ways.

…Can you tell I’m a student? Hah!

But really, I would appreciate any and all support in this contest. I won’t tell you to vote for me . But I will say that if you’d like to help and think TGR and myself are deserving of this trip, then you can click the vote button to the right of this post, in my sidebar.

Thank you!

Socialpunk by Monica Leonelle

Ima would give anything to escape The Dome and learn what’s beyond its barriers, but the Chicago government has kept all its citizens on lockdown ever since the Scorched Years left most of the world a desert wasteland. When a mysterious group of hooded figures enters the city unexpectedly, Ima uncovers a plot to destroy The Dome and is given the choice between escaping to a new, dangerous city or staying behind and fighting a battle she can never win.

As a kick-off to the Socialpunk blog tour, I thought it’d only be fitting to get all of you excited about this book and trilogy, too! The description is a little reminiscent of The Hunger Games, isn’t it? Or, perhaps, The Water Wars? Either way, it looks like a promising dystopian read. But, if you won’t take my word for it, read for yourself! Below are three links to Kindle, Nook/iPad and PDF files of preview chapters. Check ‘em out!

Oh, and did I mention there’s a contest running from April 3rd – April 30th? ‘Cause there is, and you should totally participate and pass the news along. There are some GREAT prizes.

News: Being Jamie Baker contest.

Today I received a nice e-mail from Kelly Oram, author of Being Jamie Baker, notifying me of a contest.

To keep her secret safe Jamie socially exiles herself, earning the title of Rocklin High’s resident ice queen. But during a super-charged encounter with star quarterback Ryan Miller she literally kisses anonymity goodbye. Now the annoyingly irresistible Ryan will stop at nothing to melt the heart of the ice queen and find out what makes her so special.

Unfortunately, Ryan is not the only person on to her secret. Will Jamie learn to contain her unstable powers before being discovered by the media, or turned into a government lab rat?

More importantly, can she throw Ryan Miller off her trail before falling in love with him?

Sound interesting? Check out the whole first chapter. It’s funny, it’s catchy, I don’t know why I’ve yet to read it.

Over at her site (linked at the beginning of this post) you can view the details about how she will be giving away one signed copy each week of November. Awesome, right?

Many thanks to her for the giveaway!
