What is one book I would be nervous to see made into a movie adaptation?
Anna and the French Kiss. Or Daughter of Smoke and Bone. In the case of Anna, I just don’t think any actors could take the place of Anna and Etienne; I don’t think it would work, and I don’t think they could capture all of their essence. In the case of Smoke and Bone, there’s just so much awesome that I think a lot of it would be left out in a movie.

Ahh I never thought of it like that! I really want Anna as a film but yeah, I don’t think any actors could really live up to my expectations! I’d hate for them to ruin it. Yeah, I would be curious about Daughter of Smoke and Bone as a film because I feel like they would really need to capture Laini Taylor’s beautiful prose!

This is the first time that I’ve noticed Daughter of Smoke and Bone actually mentioned and I think I’d have to definitely agree with that, but I also think that Anna and the French Kiss would make an adorable romantic comedy film if they were to cast it right.

Hopping through. I didn’t think of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I don’t think they could capture the book well. I love it too much to see it slaughtered.

I totally agree with Daughter of Smoke and Bone – there’s far too much going on, and I’d be worried that the special effects that would be needed wouldn’t be done well enough!
I thought of writing about Anna myself – glad I’m not the only one who’d worry about casting choices for that one!

I don’t think Anna would work out for me, either. Mainly because Anna’s narrating made the book so magical imo and that would get lost on screen.

Oh my gosh, yes. We totally want to see DAUGHTER OF SMOKE AND BONE — but at the same time we’re totally terrified to. It’s one of our favorites, and it would be too heartbreaking to see it done poorly.
On the other hand, we would really enjoy seeing ANNA or LOLA brought to the big screen. First of all, we think teens need more movies like that — relatively clean but realistic romantic comedies — and second, they were both very visual books, with beautiful settings, and it would be fun to see them brought to life.
Your ANNA and LOLA point is really interesting, because I never thought to think of it like that – as being a relatively clean and realistic romantic comedy. That actually almost makes me reconsider not wanting to see it made into a movie. I’m very curious to see how that’d come out now.
